History of Harris Memorial College, Inc.

Harris Memorial College, Inc. was founded in 1903 by Methodist missionaries with a vision to educate and empower young women in the Philippines. Named after Norman W. Harris, a generous benefactor from Chicago, the institution began as a bible training school for young women in the Philippines.

Over the decades, Harris Memorial College has evolved and expanded its educational offerings while maintaining its core ARMS values — Academic Excellence, Responsible Citizenship, Mission Driven, and Servant Leadership. From its humble beginnings, the college has grown to become a respected institution of higher learning, offering programs in education, Christian studies, and music.

Pioneer in Kindergarten Education in the Philippines, in 1923, with Prigida Garcia. Throughout its history, Harris Memorial College has played a significant role in shaping leaders who have made substantial contributions to society, both in the Philippines and abroad.

Today, Harris Memorial College continues to build on its rich legacy, adapting to the changing needs of society while remaining true to its founding principles. As we celebrate over a century of service, we look forward to continuing our mission of educating future leaders for Christ-like life and service in the years to come.
